When a bearing fails your supercharger is scrap! It will need to be replaced as the supercharger impeller will grind to a screeching halt in the housing and nothing is salvageable.
When you push it too long you risk a bearing cage failing. The smart guys will still rebuild the superchargers every 100 hours, or soon after, and not push it more than 2 years between rebuilds. So they then stated the superchargers had a 200 hour interval, but they did NOTHING to improve the bearings. These Supercharger rebuild kits are for SeaDoo 4Tec engine packages: 215 HP. They found they were discouraging buyers from buying new skis when they found out the supercharger needed to be rebuilt every 100 hours. Seadoo used to have a 100 hour rebuild interval on their superchargers. The kit in that supercharger was not rated at "200 hours" to begin with. Or maybe they want to see it fail so they can hit you with a repair bill of thousands of dollars vs a cheap rebuild?įirst off, your supercharger is a 2006. I was told that since I already replaced the ceramic washers with steel ones 2 years ago and that on average I put 10-20 hours or less a year on it that I should leave it until I hit 200 hours.I ended last year at 65 hours and I am now at 74 with less than a month before winter. Today I decided to take it to the local dealer (apparently the biggest one in Canada) to have this done as I am now at the end of my second year but was told this was not required by the service department. This kit is what you need to rebuild the supercharger on any 185 engine.
